My Approach to Tutoring & Methodology
My teaching methodology is built on patience, structural clarity, and shifting students from passive memorization to active problem-solving. I break down complex STEM formulas and linguistic rules into logical, digestible steps, utilizing a 3-step lesson framework:
The Conceptual Anchor: We start by connecting the topic to a practical, real-world example (like applying basic physics to structural forces or breaking down a Kiswahili sentence structure contextually).
Guided Problem-Solving: We solve problems together side-by-side, where I guide the student’s logic rather than just handing them the answer.
Independent Mastery: The student tackles a targeted problem on their own to solidify their confidence, followed by a quick review of any stumbling blocks.
Typical Lesson Structure & Length
Lessons are typically structured to run for 1 to 1.5 hours per session. This duration is the absolute sweet spot: it provides ample time to review previous concepts, introduce a new topic thoroughly, and practice problem-solving without inducing mental fatigue or breaking the student's focus span.
My Qualifications & Experience
I am a second-year Civil Engineering student at the Technical University of Kenya. This rigorous academic path gives me an advanced, day-to-day command of higher-level mathematics, physics, and technical analytical thinking. In addition to my strong engineering background, I possess a deep, native fluency in Kiswahili and a passion for academic mentoring. I have a proven track record of tutoring peers and younger students, helping them successfully navigate continuous assessment tests (CATs), demystify difficult homework assignments, and build solid foundations for upcoming school terms.
