About José Miguel
My name is Jose Miguel Fernandez Real, a 22-year-old Spanish student pursuing an MSc in Biomedical Engineering in Galway. I have been studying piano since I was very young, initially at an academy with the intention of following a professional path. After over 18 years of playing, I graduated with a Professional Degree in Piano Studies from the Gonzalo Martín Tenllado Conservatory. I understand the dynamics of conservatory training, which I can effectively pass on to my students. I have a strong command of music and a deep passion for piano, particularly for improvisation and famous pieces such as Interstellar, where I enjoy understanding its soundtrack, playing it in full, and adding my own embellishments. Additionally, I have a deep appreciation for classical composers such as Bach, Chopin, and my personal favorite, Mozart. Their music is essential for developing technique, progression, and, most importantly, enjoyment—all of which I aim to instill in my students!

About the lesson

There will be "technical" sessions focused on developing fluency and finger technique on the piano, using pieces that enhance these skills. If the student requires it (and as I personally prefer), we will also cover basic theoretical music teachings to provide cultural enrichment—always in a simple and dynamic way!
Additionally, there will be practice sessions, where we will progress through various pieces carefully selected by both the student and me, based on their level and with the goal of enjoyment and improvement. These sessions will also include learning some of my favorite piano pieces, the most famous ones, and piano improvisation, both for two and four hands.
After each session, the student will receive guidelines to follow at home until the next session—always with enthusiasm and a dynamic approach to fully enjoy music!
