About Sona

I am an experienced and results-driven tutor with years of teaching experience taking tuition privately and in different tuition centres, consistently helping students achieve exceptional academic outcomes. Having studied  Mathematics with Economics at the London School of Economics (LSE) with a strong academic background—including A* grades in Mathematics (94% UMS, 49/50 in Applied Mathematics), Further Mathematics, Economics, and EPQ, as well as a Distinction in the Advanced Extension Award in Mathematics (top 1% nationally)and scoring. grade 9 in 14 GCSEs myself —I know exactly what it takes to secure top grades at GCSE and A-Level.

Throughout secondary school, I was a dedicated overachiever, actively participating in mathematics competitions such as the UKMT Maths Challenge, Kangaroo Maths, and the British Mathematical Olympiad. This passion for problem-solving and academic excellence translates directly into my teaching.

I pride myself on delivering clear, engaging explanations and creating personalized, exam-focused lesson plans for my students. My teaching style is highly structured and thorough, with detailed, student-friendly notes that aid long-term understanding and retention. I’ve helped the majority of my KS3 and KS4 students (Years 7–11) build a solid foundation in mathematics, which has led them to achieve Grade 8/9 at GCSE. At A-Level, over 80% of my students have achieved an A*, due to my targeted, results-oriented approach.

What sets me apart is not just my subject knowledge, but the genuine enthusiasm I bring to each lesson. I aim to foster a love for maths in every student I teach, empowering them to reach their highest potential—not only through academic grades but also through enrichment opportunities such as maths competitions and stretch material.

Tutoring allows me to combine my love for mentoring with my passion for mathematics. I find it deeply rewarding to see students grow in confidence, develop a deep understanding of the subject, and consistently exceed their academic goals.

I myself have achieved A* grades in Mathematics (94% UMS), Further Mathematics, Economics, and EPQ, with a Distinction in the Advanced Extension Award—placing me in the top 1% nationally so I offer lessons that combine exam-focused strategies with clear, personalized explanations. I provide in-depth help with exam techniques which is important besides knowledge of maths. I have ample resources from different exam boards like EDEXCEL, OCR, AQA, OCR MEI and know how the mark scheme works. Whether you're aiming for top grades or building foundational confidence, I tailor each session to your goals using proven techniques from my own academic success. Having worked with many students and families to achieve the best results, I create a great rapport with students and families where I have students who stayed with me for their entire secondary education. From time to time provide feedback to the parents so that they are aware of their child’s progress.
