About Amy
I’m a 19-year-old woman who’s recently returned from 7 months of working overseas at a multipurpose outdoor center, where I got the absolute pleasure of facilitating many different groups of all ages and backgrounds, adjusting to their specific purposes of visiting the site. This experience helped me realize how much I enjoy working with kids, and how passionate I am to help make kids' lives a little bit better by being a patient, fun, and understanding mentor in any situation. Although I do enjoy studying Math and Physics, this year I am pursuing my other ambition of screen acting. This means I’m looking for a job that does not require a solid 9-5 commitment and can be completed from home. I only remember enjoying school when I could actually understand what was going on, and I know that many students struggle with not having a teacher who is able to engage them and, therefore unable to benefit their education. I’d love to be able to show these students that learning is not only possible but can even be fun!

After working at YMCA Cedar Glen in Canada, I have a high amount of experience with designing engaging lesson plans that keep students focused and entertained, as well as ensuring they meet subject requirements given by an educational board. My roles at Cedar Glen included: a Forest School educator, a “Specialist High Skills Major” instructor, and, an Outdoor Educator. I have experience with kids ages 3+ so would be comfortable teaching kids from 5-17 years old. I specialize in Mathematics, and Physics, but am also able to help in any subject area for kids up to year 9. I would aim to be an educational support for the child, assisting in the areas, and ways that they need the most help. I’m willing to try multiple different tactics for explaining concepts in order to resonate with the individual mind of the student. My lesson lengths can range between 30 minutes and 2 hours, depending on the realistic range of focus for the child. I have smooth time management skills and will strive to make a genuine connection with the student in order to best benefit their learning.
