About Ting Yew
Hello! I am a Year 3 Bachelor of Science with Education (Biology) student at Universiti Malaya, currently maintaining a CGPA of 3.98. As someone who is being formally trained in both Biology and education, I am passionate about helping students develop a strong understanding of Biology rather than simply memorizing facts for examinations.
I understand that Biology can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when students encounter unfamiliar terms and complex processes. My approach is to break down difficult concepts into simpler, easy-to-follow explanations and connect them to examples that students can relate to.
I have gained hands-on teaching experience through my 2-month teaching internship at SMJK Katholik, 3-month volunteer tutoring experience with Teach For Malaysia, as well as providing private tutoring to students. These experiences have taught me that every student learns differently, and I adapt my teaching approach according to each student's needs and level of understanding.
My classes are designed to be supportive, interactive, and focused on genuine understanding. I encourage students to ask questions, clarify their doubts, and learn from their mistakes without hesitation. I also use regular formative assessments to monitor their progress and identify areas that require further attention.

My Tutoring Approach
My teaching approach focuses on understanding rather than memorization. I aim to break down difficult Biology concepts into simpler, easy-to-follow explanations and guide students step by step until they are confident with the topic.
Teaching Methodology
I structure my lessons around the student's current level of understanding and learning needs. I usually begin by identifying what the student already knows before introducing new concepts. Throughout the lesson, I use explanations, questioning, examples, guided practice, and examination-style questions to help students develop a deeper understanding of the subject.
I also use formative assessments at the end of each subtopic to check whether the student has genuinely understood the content. If weaknesses or misconceptions are identified, I will revisit the relevant concepts and adjust my explanation before moving on.
I strongly encourage students to ask questions and express their doubts. I believe students learn best when they are comfortable admitting what they do not understand and actively participate in the learning process.
Lesson Duration
My typical lesson is 1–1.5 hours, depending on the student's level, needs, and the amount of content to be covered.

I am currently a Year 3 Bachelor of Science with Education (Biology) student at Universiti Malaya, with a CGPA of 3.98.
My teaching experience includes:
-Private tutoring — providing individualized Biology tutoring to students.
-Teaching Internship at SMJK Katholik — 2 months of hands-on secondary school teaching experience.
-Volunteer Tutor with Teach For Malaysia — 3 months of tutoring experience.
These experiences have allowed me to develop practical skills in lesson planning, classroom teaching, student assessment, and adapting explanations to different learning needs.
