About Rowan
I love to bring my patience and fun to the learning process and enjoy building self-confidence and curiosity in young people!
I initially studied Civil Engineering (BEng) at Heriot-Watt University - rated number one in the UK for the subject at the time. Following a period spent travelling, I continued my professional development with a Masters in Sustainable Energy (MSc) at the University of Glasgow. Graduating with a Distinction, I was able to secure a place on the prestigious Network Rail graduate programme. Having entered the programme as a Civil Engineer, I plan to become chartered engineer within the ICE.
Throughout my studies in Glasgow and Edinburgh, I tutored privately, both online and in person, predominately at GCSE/Standard Grades level. I also volunteered with children in a range of roles, including tutoring disadvantaged local children and refugees in Govan, mentoring older children with regard to higher education choices and running workshops to encourage wider participation in further education. Currently, I volunteer with KEEN London, a charity providing one-to-one support through sports and activity sessions for children with additional needs or disabilities.
